Troubleshooting: Interpreter Settings is disabled in Microsoft Teams

Issue

When creating a Teams Meeting using your Event Management or Employee Training Management, the Interpreter option is disabled in Microsoft Teams meeting options.

Root Causes (Most Common)

1. No Co‑organizer Is Assigned

The interpreter feature is disabled, if there are no users available to select.

Fix

  • Other users than the user that creates the Teams meeting have to be specified in any Person column in the event form. Users specified in person columns (e.g. the Organizer column), will be nominated co-organizers.

2. Meeting Is Created as a Channel Meeting

If Store recording in Teams channel is populated, Teams creates the meeting as a channel meeting.
Interpreter is not supported in channel meetings, so the option is disabled.

Fix

  • When creating the Teams Meeting, don’t select a channel to store the recording

3. Interpreter Is Assigned as Co‑organizer

A user cannot be both a Co‑organizer and an Interpreter.

Fix

  • Remove the user from Co‑organizers in the meeting options

  • Save the meeting options

  • Assign the user as an Interpreter
